Saffron—$3000—sold
Saffron is a registered A2 Guernsey born March 9, 2024. Saffron is six months old now and has been drinking 2 gallons of real Guernsey milk every day since she was born. Saffron knows how to drink her milk from a bottle or a bucket. Saffron also eats hay well and is learning to graze too.
Saffron is a good prospect for a grass-fed dairy cow. She’s been raised on plenty of real milk for over five months now and has been raised without grain. She is eating hay well. Her mother produces well as a grass-fed cow. If you want to feed grain, Saffron can be weaned now. If you don’t want to feed grain, she can be weaned in just a few more weeks and she’ll be grown well enough to thrive with just grass and hay (as long as the quality and quantity is adequate).
Saffron is sweet and friendly. She is well-socialized, loves people, and is starting to learn how to stand tied with a halter and to lead.
Her mother, Sylvie, is a five-year-old registered A2 Guernsey who is disease tested negative for BLV, BVD, and Johnes. Sylvie has a nice udder that is still well-attached and holding up at five years of age, and produces around 8 gallons of milk per day at the peak of her lactation. Sylvie is grass-fed and eats no grain. Sylvie’s mother was the Senior and Grand Champion at the Big E in 2019 as a Senior 3-year-old. Her sire is Hi Guern View Charming Design. Sylvie has a great set of feet and legs, a strong front end, and is scored Very Good-85.
Saffron would make a great 4-H project calf—as an early March calf she is old enough for the summer and fall shows. Or she would make a fantastic homestead or family milk cow. Saffron is available for immediate pickup. No holds without a deposit. Deposits are nonrefundable. Health papers available at buyer’s expense.
